Changes: Honami Yasumoto

Honami Yasumoto (安本保奈美 Yasumoto Honami) is the Microbiologist of the Antarctic Challenge Foundation's observation team in A Place Further Than the Universe.

In episode 8, Honami is one of two scientists that the girls interview as part of their reporting duty. When the girls get seasick, Honami helps secure the belongings in their room, and also warns them of the circumpolar current that the ship would be sailing across. In episode 11, the girls assist Honami in an operation to discover sea ice. Honami tells the girls that Takako Kobuchizawa helped her out in the exact same location during the last expedition.

Honami tends to be an irresponsible drinker, as shown during her debut in episode 7. Because of her lack of natural eyebrows, she takes longer to get ready for interviews.

Etymology

The name Honami means "protect, guarantee" (保) (ho), "Nara, what" (奈) (na) and "beautiful" (美) (mi).
Honami's surname Yasumoto means "peace, quiet" (安) (yasu) and "base, root, origin" (本) (moto).
